What is the minimum requirement to run your software?

• PDA devices  supported:
  Palm OS 3.5 minimum (recommendations: high resolution screen support)
  Windows Mobile™Pocket PC platform: Windows Mobile CE 2003 and Windows Mobile CE 2005 (recommendations: VGA display and screen orientation support)
• For GPS navigation assistance: NMEA GPS support (Build in, Blue tooth, Compact Flash, Memory stick, Clip-on, or external devices)
• For on-line cartography: Smartphone, wireless connection, land modem or PC-Internet gateway (MocchaPPP, SoftickPPP)
   

What is my handheld Operating System version?

To know your O.S version: run the Palm App main screen, select the menu option "App-Info" and click on the "version" box.
 

Any plans for GPS Pilot for Pocket PCs? GPS Pilot was my favorite program for my Palm.

GPS Pilot now support Windows Mobile™Pocket PC platform: Windows Mobile CE 2003 and Windows Mobile CE 2005 (recommendations: VGA display and screen orientation support)
 

Is there any limitation on the handheld memory?

Software are from 250Kb to 450Kb.

• Compass is 200 Kb + 50 Kb for MathLib.prc
• Atlas = 380 Kb 50 Kb for MathLib.prc
• Tracker = 400 Kb + 50 Kb for MathLib.prc,
• Fly= 400 Kb + 50 Kb for MathLib.prc
• TripPilot= 400 Kb +50 Kb for MathLib.prc

Memory requirements differ by the number of points and maps imported, their size, resolution (Black and white, grayscale or 256 colors) and compression. A waypoint is about 50 bytes. The size of a map (in pixels) is around Width * Height / 8 for Black and White maps, Width * Height / 4 for grayscale, Width * Height for 8 bits color maps.
We recommend that you are using an 8MB device at least, external memory support recommended.
 

Do you have demonstration versions?

All GPS Pilot  Palm software are delivered in demonstration mode available from the Try it! section. Our FREE demo versions are fully functional with little restrictions. For full usage, register your version through our Buy on-line section.
 

What is your phone number.. i have some questions about using with palm IIIxe and garmin 3 plus?

Sorry but we don't have any dedicated phone support line. But ask any questions by email at support@GPSpilot.com. For current matter, they are usually answered in the day.

I don't understand the packaging/purchasing process could you explain it.

GPS Pilot is a software company, we do not carry any hardware pieces. GPS Pilot software are sold on-line.

For the hardware parts handheld, GPS devices and the connection cable, you can to buy them in retail stores or on-line. If you would like to order them on-line, check out our partner page.

The software package can be downloaded from the "Try it!" section. Each zip package contains

• two executables (.prc)
• databases samples of POIs and maps
• a first-step tutorial image (.gif format)
• and a README document to guide you in the first use of the application.

All GPS Pilot Palm software are delivered in demonstration mode available from the "Try it!" section. Our FREE demo versions are fully functional with little restrictions. For full usage, register your version through our Buy on-line section.

Downloadable packages are available via the GPS Pilot try it! zone. You can also order backup CD pacakages via postal mail service during Digibuy purchase process.

Once your order placed, you will immediately receive a confirmation mail of your purchase with a registration code corresponding to your Palm User Name. Enter the code in the About box available via the menu Options-About.

The software package can be downloaded from the download" section. The program comes in the form of a Windows Executable Setup program. Press the Download Tracker button from the site.

The File Download dialog box will appear and you will be able to download the Tracker install executable. This file is safe, has been certified to be Virus free, and will not access any private information on your PC.

On this screen you can run the Install program as soon as it downloads by pressing the Open button. To run the install later, press the Save button and specify a folder on your computer to save to. Be sure you remember this folder so you can find the program after the install is complete.

 Prior to install the PPC_Tracker software on your Pocket PC, you need to ensure that device is nested in its cradle and ActiveSync is running.Right click on the PPC_Tracker.exe icon and press Open from the Popup menu. The Install screen will appear and the Install program will run after.

To be fully functional the Tracker application requires the following Microsoft services:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, to enable web services to operate in conjunction with Tracker

SQL CE for the SQL services.

Tip: If these 2 services are not already installed on your PDA, the installation wizard will prompt a message to remind you to install both services. Click on the OK button of the message box on your PDA, and terminate the installation of Tracker.
All the installation files for these 2 services are included in the PPC_Tracker.zip package.
To install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0: connect your Pocket PC to your PC and execute the openNETCF.exe program by double clicking on the file icon. Then follow the instructions on screen if any.
To install SQL CE: connect your Pocket PC to your PC and execute the SQLCE.exe program by double clicking on the file icon. Then follow the instructions on screen if any.

Are upgrade free?

Minor upgrades are free, there is an upgrade fee for major upgrades. Indeed, our info and support services are free, but we are requesting a small upgrade fee from our previous customers in order to support our work and to help us to continuing doing our best in the geo-localization field.
 

How do I update?

To get our latest versions, just go the GPS Pilot download zone and download the current versions.
For free upgrade, enter the registration code you received when you first registered GPS Pilot software in the about box.

For major upgrades, register through our special upgrade page. For any GPS Pilot products upgrade, select the "Upgrade Product" and enter your previous registration code. You will immediately receive a new code for the new version. Enter this new registration code you received when you first registered GPS Pilot software in the about box.
 

I had to buy a new palm since my old one kicked the bucket. Can I get a registration code to activate the program on my new palm? My new name is XXX

GPS Pilot licensing policy entitles to a single license for a specific Palm User Name.

When users change their PUN, GPS Pilot policy is to request an upgrade purchase in order to provide you a another license for the new PUN.
 

What is my Palm User Name -PUN- or HotSync Id, or owner identification Id?

To find your Palm User Name -PUN- or HotSync Id, or owner identification Id, you can either:

• install any GPS Pilot application and your PUN is listed in the About box
• or use the HotSync application:
  
  1. Go to the Application Launcher (whatever it might be) and locate the HotSync application
     
      
  2. Your Owner Identification is your HotSync account name!
     

For windows mobile user, prior to purchase GPS Pilot software, install it on your device and start it. The about box, appears and displays your device id, called clid. You need to enter this id during the purchase process.

If you have purchased this software and received a regitration code, you can get rid of the keyhole.
Open the About box, available via the option menu Options-About. Erase the demo or trial word and replace it with your registration code. Validate your code via the OK button. You should now get entire view of your maps.

How do I access the menu?

Tap the menu button in the lower left corner of the screen to bring up the menu:

From there you can access to Options menu.

I downloaded the .zip file and Hotsynced it to my palm Pilot but the registration code you send did not work out.

The registration code is based on your Palm User Name: if you registered our applications with an incorrect or erroneous PUN, the registration code generated will be incorrect.

Check your user name on your Palm in the Hotsync application or on GPS Pilot application about box, and transmit us the correct one.

Make sure you send us your PUN with any special characters such as "." , "," , international characters "é”, "õ”, ...
You will receive the correct software code in less than 24 hours .

I have already entered the key you have sent me but it still appears the key hole

Our automatic on-line registration code process is not always detecting correctly international characters such as in your Palm User Name.

Do you have a disk version of the GPS Pilot software?

We do distribute CD version of our GPS Pilot software for additional US $10.99 for U.S. postal delivery and additional $12.99 for non-U.S. delivery via our Buy section.

Downloadable packages are available via the GPS Pilot download zone. You will receive backup CD pacakages viapostal mail service. These package are compressed in a zip format , they are small and it usually takes only few minutes to be downloaded.
 

How to download and to install GPS Pilot software packages and free database?

Both software & database packages are available in .zip format.

For an application:

1. Select the GPS Pilot software on the Try it! page.
   Save the ZIP files on your machine. (Tracker, Atlas, Fly packages contain 2 executable files: program_name.prc and MathLib.prc.)
    
2. Unzip to get the program_name.prc and Mathlib.prc files. If you do not have a Zipper program, try WinZip at www.winzip.com.
3. Install the prc files using the Palm install tool
    
4. Hotsync
    
5. For the commercial versions, you will need to enter your registration code in the about box of the application.

For databases:

1. on the FREE GPS Pilot locations database page, select the name of the databases you want to download into your Palm.
   Save the ZIP files on your machine.
    
2. Unzip to get the database_name.pdb file. If you do not have a Zipper program, try WinZip at www.winzip.com.
3. Install the prc files using the Palm install tool
    
4. Hotsync

The two downloading processes can be done at the same time. GPS Pilot applications automatically detect which databases are present on your Palm. You may selectively remove database from your Palm using the GPS Pilot options-preferences menu and add new database when you need them.

I can´t install it MathLib.prc makes on my handheld "fatal exception".It is impossible to install it.

Try to run GPS Pilot application without MathLib. On some units the Mathematics library is already installed.
 

Is there a manual that I might read on how to operate this program?

A README file which contains a first steps tutorial is including in every package.
Consult also the contextual help for each form using the menu Options-Help.

I am a registered user of V5.6. Could you please tell me where I can find the user manual?

How do I remove GPS Pilot trial software?

In the main screen of your PDA, select the option menu App (for Applications), then select the item delete and delete any software you wish and tap on the delete button.

Bad performance or fatal error at the launch of the application?

The applicationmight have been corrupted during the application phase, please remove both application and database files, download the packages fromhttp://www.GPSpilot.com/products/download and re-install the application from scratch. If the error occurs again, please contact support@GPSpilot.com
