TripPilot™ wins 2003 SIA "Best Hobby or Personal Interest application" - Grenoble, France - 19 July 2003

GPS Pilot today announced that TripPilot™ has received the 2003 Shareware Industry Award for "Best Hobby or Personal Interest application"!

SIA winner 2003The Shareware Industry Conference, held July 16-18, 2003 in Rochester, New York, was concluded with the annual Shareware Industry Awards ceremony to honor the best and brightest in the industry. TripPilot™ was awarded the "Best Hobby or Personal Interest application" for 2003.

About TripPilot™

TripPilot™ is an itinerary browser to locate addresses and plan routes - North America and Europe itinerary and map coverage down to street, town and road levels with driving directions supported in 11 languages -.

TripPilot™ allows web requests directly from a Palm Powered™ device and generates personal road itineraries. Then, TripPilot™ offers several views of the requested itinerary. A route overview GPS enabled map displays the entire trip while the detailed view contains written directions plus mini geo-coded maps describing every turn. Then on the road, TripPilot™ adds the value of Global Positioning navigation assistance. The GPS icons show position and move directly on the maps to provide real-time travel assistance.

System requirement:

  • A Palm Powered device (Palm OS 3.0 minimum): High resolution Sony Clié™, Handspring Tréo™ phone, Palm m500 series, Palm m100 series, Palm III series, Palm V series, Palm VII series, Palm i705 handheld (U.S. only), HandEra™, and IBM Workpad.
     
  • For cartography access: adapted for land modem, and wireless connection. Connection via infrared, serial port (cellular, GSM, wireless network etc.), OmniSky™ network and communication devices like the Palm VII series, the Palm i705 handheld (U.S. only), and cell phones like Handspring Tréo™. You can also use the Internet connection of your PC via the cradle using PC-PDA Internet gateway software such as Mocha PPP.
     
  • For GPS assistance: compliant to all National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA-0183) GPS receivers, and support for the DeLorme Earthmate™. The GPS feature is optional, and TripPilot™ is able to work with or without a GPS device connected.
